You don’t have to be in crisis to start going to therapy

Many people believe that therapy is only for people who are in crisis, but that is not true. Actually, it’s better to learn to manage your mental health when you aren’t in crisis.

There are many reasons to start therapy.

Here are a few:

  • Making a change in careers;
  • Major life changes (e.g. breakups, parenthood, changing cities, etc);
  • To improve relationships;
  • To learn better coping skills;
  • To process past events or trauma;
  • You’re having mood swings;
  • Depression, anxiety and other mental health issues;
  • Self improvement/building new habits.

Seeking therapy is routine and preventive healthcare. Much like we care for and strengthen our bodies, we need to care for and strengthen our minds.
